Dev Test Day
Nope, I didn’t forget about it! And as promised, I’m releasing something
It’s not the greatest thing in the world, but i released it built from my framework (which implements a bunch of high-level libraries by default).
The actual game code for this only takes about 80 lines so it was very quick to whip up. Sorry it doesn’t look like much. The networking in my engine is currently broken thanks to the physics library but thankfully, the game doesn’t rely on it.
But no need to keep you waiting, download link is below.
June 1st
June 1st is only 5 days away! Well, as I promised, I am still releasing something no matter what it is on that day or what I have. It probably will be more of a technology demo then anything. I was never intent on releasing a full game by June 1st only a beta but since my game is not feature-complete, I’d be lying to even call it a beta. I’m not going to lie, I’ve overestimated a few things about my game or just generally slacked off in some areas. I haven’t been as dedicated to it as I should have been at times, sometimes spending weekends playing Garrys Mod or Gears of war/Halo instead of working on it.
So consider June 1 a Developmental Technology demo release if you please and by all means, it is subject to change.
As Raygoe (Lurous.com) decided to match his previous beta date to June 1st like mine, I’m matching his true open beta date as June 26th. I have no idea if he too still plans to release something on June 1st but I do sincerely wish him the best of luck with his 2D Eve Online like game.
BlakkEngine Update
As promised, i made a REALLY REALLY short :16 second clip of the in-game physics thingy working with a player object and just the parallax scrolling.
Sorry it’s a little half assed.

26 days until open beta!
Well, we only have 26 days until an open beta of the game
Looking at the deadline and looking at my progress, I can honestly say that I’ll have something good come June 1st.
I’ll post a preview in my next post, I promise.
We’re back online!
You may or may not have noticed the downtime recently. This has been an increasingly frequent issue that has caused me to switch to a more reliable host. I’m paying just about the same for my new host but I have less server resources and therefore am using lightweight programs like lighttpd and debian linux. Interestingly, the entire website only uses around 33-50mb of ram to run!
I recently thought my blog looked way to technical with many words and few pictures so I’ll try in the future to limit my posts (unless absolutely needed) and add some much needed pazazz (like images).
